Sandwich Children's Center seeks a Lead School Age Teacher and Assistant School Age Teacher for our 2022 Summer Camp Program.
SCC’s nature camp includes messy free-play outside, forest play, hiking and excursions, water play, fort building,making nature journals, visits from experts (based on weekly themes), yoga, music, dancing, group games, reading and relaxation. Weekly themes will be shared with the children at the start of each week and time will be spent gathering ideas, as well as questions, to explore. The majority of each day will be spent outdoors.
This is a full-time position July 5 - August 19, Monday-Friday 8:00-4:30, with training to take place in June, prior to the start of camp. SCC offers competitive pay commensurate with experience. The ideal candidate will have a love of being outdoors, experience working with children ages 5-10 in a camp or school setting, have a positive attitude, and enjoy exploring the natural world with kids. Successful candidates will be flexible and collaborative, able to relate sensitively to people of all ages and backgrounds, and possess a deep and abiding love and respect for children.
Candidates for these positions must be at least 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma, and at least one of the following: 1: Experience working with school-age children totaling 600 hours; 2: Documentation of at least 3 credits in child development, education, recreatio, or other field of study focused on children, awarded by a regionally accredited college or university; or 3: Documentation that they are a certified coach. All candidates must successfully complete background checks prior to employment.
Sandwich Children’s Center is located in Center Sandwich, a picturesque small town which borders Squam Lakes and the White Mountains and is within 20 minutes of the towns of Center Harbor, Meredith, Moultonborough, Tamworth, and Holderness. SCC was founded over 37 years ago and is financially sound and well equipped thanks to generous support from the surrounding communities.
