Preschool children are becoming able to express themselves through language and have better control over their movements. They are just beginning to work cooperatively with one another and continue to energetically explore how things work. The preschool classroom builds on their innate curiosity. The classroom is designed to allow the children to make choices, to practice new skills, and to refine their understanding through hands-on materials. Preschool children continue to learn through doing and it is through their play and manipulation of concrete materials and mediums that they learn both academic concepts and social skills. The program is a balance of self-chosen playtime and planned activities which are designed to build on children’s interests and expand their knowledge of themselves and the world around them.
